What has been confirmed

Life is confirmed only on Earth. NASA states that it has not found credible evidence of extraterrestrial life. That does not make life elsewhere impossible; it means the question remains open.

Where scientists look

Researchers study Mars, icy ocean worlds such as Europa and Enceladus, and planets orbiting other stars. They look for liquid water, usable chemistry, energy sources and stable environments.

Biosignatures are clues, not instant proof

A biosignature is a feature that might be produced by life. Scientists must test whether non-biological processes could produce the same signal before making a strong claim.

Technosignatures

SETI research searches for possible signs of technology, including unusual radio or optical signals. A candidate must survive repeated observation and careful elimination of human interference.

A scientifically exciting unknown

The universe contains many planets and potentially habitable environments, but probability is not detection. The strongest position is curiosity without overclaiming.
